Wisconsin Association of Licensed Practical Nurses has been a life changing experience, helping me to grow within my field and providing me with lifelong friendships and networking opportunities year round.  I am so happy to be a part of this organization that provides support and opportunity for the much needed field of Licensed Practical Nurses!

Testimonials

I’d like to start off by introducing myself.  My name is Mary Tess-Barber, LPN.  I am the new Vice President of the great organization, Wisconsin Association of LPN’s (WALPN).  I am a full-time LPN working at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.  I work the night shift in the Spinal Cord Injury/Disorder Division.

I have been a member of not only the WALPN, but also the National Association of LPN’s (NALPN).  I would to take a little time to share my experiences of both these fine organizations.  I have attended three national and three state conferences .  I have attended the national conferences in Biloxi, Mississippi; Orlando, Florida and San Antonio, Texas.  I have met LPNs from all over the country and the Bahamas.  It is amazing to hear about all the different practices my fellow nurses are in.  I have made lifelong friends and look forward to seeing them at conferences.   One of the wonderful benefits of attending a NALPN conference is the education/certifications/CEU’s they offer.  I am certified in Mental Health First Aid, have a certificate in End of Life Care and a certification in Gerontology.  The certification in Gerontology raised my pay grade by 2 steps (it’s a VA thing) and I received a nice raise.  Both these organizations offer wonderful teaching, speakers and camaraderie.

Our WALPN Annual Conference will be held Sunday, April 28th & Monday, April 29th, 2019 at the Wintergreen Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.  I would encourage you to join and attend this event.  Look forward to meeting and seeing you at the conference.

Sincerely,

Mary Tess-Barber, LPN
